Hannah Mitchell, BELA, Director.
Hannah began her career as a paralegal looking after Suffolk’s admission appeal system for schools. In 2008 she became the Duke of Edinburgh Award Manager covering Suffolk. Along with DofE, she took over the role of Outdoor Education Advisor in 2015 and worked in partnership with Strong Roots Training and EVOLVE to deliver efficient and cost-effective packages and policies for Schools and Trusts to support educational trips and visits.
She has real experience of balancing benefit and risk and understands this is one of the most challenging ideas that school staff contend with, whilst trying to meet the level of expectation from Senior Leadership Teams and parents. This balance can lead to “Risk Anxiety Disorder” (Tim Gill) and she enjoys working with people to find simplistic easy ways to carryout brilliant experiences for children and young people while complying with national guidance and school policy.
Hannah has a personal passion for developing young people from marginalised backgrounds to discover the wonders of the outdoor world, whilst finding confidence and developing skills. Her strong belief is that great things never came from comfort zones.
Hannah is currently studying to be a project manager, obtain her Level 3 Beach School qualification, holds a BELA qualification and is a DofE Assessor. She lives on the beautiful heritage coastline with her family and assorted pets.
